The Serere Reserve is located within the Madidi Mosaic, on the edge of a mountain range and varzea (flood plain) of the tropical forest. This 4000 hectare private area (owned and operated solely by Madidi Travel) is home to a great diversity of flora and fauna, with more than 300 species of birds, and sightings of jaguarondis, ocelots (dwarf leopard), margays and jaguars. The name Serere is in honour to one Amazon bird, this is one of the oldest birds in the world that has prehistoric characteristics.
The infrastructure in the reserve is designed to harmonize with the environment, made with natural materials from the place. Its facilities are integrated with the environment and were built reusing the waste made by loggers before the creation of the reserve.
